Lesotho Council of NGOs in partnership with its member organisation, GROW Lesotho,
convened a regional meeting on the Post-2015 Development Agenda in Lesotho.
The event was held at Senqu Hotel, Mokhotlong on the 29 May 2015. It was attended
by 49participants from the different organisation and institutions. The participants included
representatives from the office of the District Administrator, Community Councillors, local chiefs,
and community based organisations. The representatives of the community based organisations were chosen
from 5 community councils of Mokhotlong namely:
Seate, Sanqebethu, Menoaneng, Mphokojoane and Urban Council
The purpose of the community meeting was:
- (i) To understand the priorities of communities for post-2015;
- (ii) To discuss concreate ideas for successful implementation and
- (iii) To discuss engagement activities on the post-2015 development agenda for the rest of the year.
The meeting started first with presenting the progress of Millennium Development Goals to
participants and soliciting the views on factors which inhibited Lesotho from achieving the
set targets. In a participatory manner, the participants engaged with the facilitators and the
factors were consolidated from all participants.
Subsequently, the participants further highlighted their views in plenary discussions based on the following guiding questions.
- (i) Identify three priorities
- (ii) What can be done to ensure successful implementation
- (iii) Identify factor that can lead them to failure

In addition, the plenary was very instrumental in identifying methods
and strategies of implementation. During the plenary, the role of civil
society organisations and that of the Government of Lesotho were identified.

Participant were later sensitised about the Sustainable Development Goals
which they showed appreciation of and wanted to trained formally on them and how
they can contribute towards their attainment.

The training was facilitated by LCN’s Programmes Director and Health and Social Development Coordinator Mr Kanono Thabane and Mrs ‘Mamathule Makhotla respectively.
