LAUNCH OF THE REPORT ON THE LESOTHO EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF PUBLIC EDUCATION SERVICES
Lesotho Council of NGOs (LCN) in collaboration with
Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa (OSISA) will
launch a report on the Lesotho Delivery of Public Education
Services on the 30th May 2013 Victoria Hotel at 5:00 p.m-8:00p.m
1. Background
Education is one of the most important investments a country
can make in its people and its future and it is critical in
unlocking the country’s potential for economic growth. Ensuring
effective delivery of education as a public service becomes
key in providing meaningful contribution in the development
of the country. The government of Lesotho has made significant
progress in increasing access to education, particularly at
the basic education level. Despite this, there are concerns
about the quality of the education delivered.
The report’s primary focus is to examine how education is
governed; it identified and formulated concrete recommendations
suggesting how to address the many challenges that are impeding
effective delivery of education as a public service. The objective
of carrying out the research and publishing the report is to
provide information that can be used to advocate for reforms
in the education sector.
Expected participants will be the Ministry of Education and Training,
Institutions of Higher Learning, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs),
Development Partners, School Secretariat and Teachers Associations.
